I just purchased 2 nissans from the Port Charlotte Nissan Harbor dealership 2 weeks ago.

This was my first time with dealing with Port Charlotte Nissan Harbor and I was very pleased with almost everyone.

With that being said, I do have one issue that everyone should be aware of before dealing with them.

I traded in 2 vehicles and got very low offers for them. I got $3000 (98 Jeep Wrangler) and $4200 (02 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited) for my jeeps. Both vehicles were in great condition, but they had some miles on them! The Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited had over sized chrome rims, 10 disc cd player, leather, V8 HO engine, seat warmers and all the bells and whistles!

I told sales rep at Nissan Harbor and the sales manager at Nissan Harbor that I didn’t mind losing money on the trade in deal and Nissan Harbor making money on the deal because that’s the name of the game:) On the other hand, I didn’t want to get screwed on the trade in deal and Nissan Harbor turn around and sell my jeeps for a major profit. I was assured from the sales rep at Nissan Harbor and the sales manager at Nissan Harbor that this was a great deal that I was getting for the jeeps and that the trade in value and retail value that I had from the research I did wasn’t near the worth of the vehicles. They also said that the trade in buying price was so good that they couldn’t budge on the trade in price I was offered. So, I swallowed my pride and put my trust into what Nissan Harbor said about my trade ins.

My goal was to get a new frontier and a new altima, but by taking such a hard hit on the trade ins, I had to settle for a new frontier and a used versa. My wife really wanted a new altima and was so-so on getting a versa. Of course the radio in it doesn’t work and when my wife went in for the scheduled appointment at 7 am, they ordered the wrong part. That part thing isn’t a biggy at all because things happen and people make mistakes.

Well, I thought I would check out how much you’re selling my jeeps for to see if you guys were being honest about the trade in values for my jeeps. I figured they would be getting sold for about $1,500 to $2,000 more than what I sold them to you for.

Well, was I shocked!

First, the Wrangler is selling for $10,000 (More than $7,000 than what I sold it for). Even if you dropped the price and sold it for $6,000 or $8,000 that’s a $3,000 to $5,000 profit! Like I told the sales manager, I don’t mind you making a profit because that’s the name of the game, but that’s just shady business to lie in my face and turn around and make a big chunk of profit that could have been used to get a new altima for my wife.

Secondly, the Grand Cherokee Limited is selling for $11,000 (That’s $7,000 more than what I sold it for). Even if you dropped the price and sold it for $8,000 or $9,000 that’s a $4,000 to $5,000 profit!

Add them both up and that’s $14,000 more than what I sold them to you for. I realize that you’re not going to sell the jeeps for 10k and 11k, but you’re still going to make between an 8k to 10k profit.

What’s wrong with this picture? You wonder why dealerships get such a bad wrap.

So not only do I get lied to about the value of these jeeps, totally crush on the sale, but we are also stuck with a nissan versa instead of an altima.

Is this standard on how you do trade-ins? If so, then I apologize, but if not, then why are you guys allowing this?

Please realize that am not some grouchy guy, but I feel that I’ve been had. I take full responsibility for my actions because no one made me accept the deal, but that doesn’t make it right either.
